Prime Minister Masrour Barzani meets Italian Prime Minister in Rome

The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government H.E. Masrour Barzani - accompanied by a delegation composed of the four Ministers Mr. Dana Abdulkareem, Minister of Home and Reconstruction; Mr. Ano Jawhar Abdoka, Minister of Transport and Communications; Mr. Pshtiwan Sadiq, Minister of Religious Affairs; and Mr. Khalid Shwani, Minister of State, - met the President of the Council of Ministers of the Italian Republic Hon. Giuseppe Conte, on Tuesday February 18th, 2020.
The Prime Minister Masrour Barzani warmly thanked President Giuseppe Conte for the role played by Italy during the fight against ISIS and underlined the fundamental importance of the Italian Carabinieri who excellently trained the Peshmerga, the Kurdistan Region armed forces.
The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region illustrated the Government's ambitious program based on numerous internal reforms and foreign investment, in order to attract Italian investors to the Region who would inspire the Kurds to develop a greater entrepreneurial attitude.
The two Prime Ministers then focused on the difficult situation that Iraq and the area surrounding the Kurdistan Region is experiencing and on the very important topic of international cooperation. The Prime Minister H.E. Masrour Barzani has in fact stressed that, unfortunately, ISIS is still a threat and, for this reason, the President Conte has reiterated Italy's commitment to support the Kurdistan Region in this long struggle that aims at freedom, tolerance and international peace.
