Prime Minister Masrour Barzani meets the Secretary of State, Cardinal Parolin, at the Vatican City
On Tuesday, February 18th 2020, the delegation of the Kurdistan Regional Government to Italy, led by Prime Minister H.E. Masrour Barzani, met with Cardinal H. Em. Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of the Vatican State.
During the meeting held inside the Vatican City, the Prime Minister updated the Cardinal regarding the role that the Kurdistan Regional Government is actively playing in supporting religious minorities with the aim of strengthening coexistence, peace and tolerance between all nationalities in the area.
Indeed, despite the fact that the Kurdistan Region is located in a geographical area often subject of contentions, the Region has become a heaven for various minorities who are integrated into it. For years now, the government has established a safe place for hundreds of thousands of refugees and internally displaced people (IDPs), including a large percentage of Christians - coming from Iraq and neighboring countries - who have fled persecution and terror.
The Prime Minister H.E. Masrour Barzani also updated the Secretary of State H. Em. Pietro Parolin on political programs aimed at improving the public sector, improving the economy by focusing on the development of the private sector and strengthening the security and stability of the area.
