Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region Masrour Barzani meets the Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Luigi Di Maio
On Wednesday, February 19th 2020, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region Mr. Masrour Barzani met the Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Mr. Luigi Di Maio.
The Foreign Minister warmly welcomed the Prime Minister and the whole delegation, underlining the very high priority that the Kurdistan Region holds for Italy.
The Minister stated, in fact, that Italian foreign policy unfolds on the basis of certain key points that unequivocally determine the Italy's position in the international scenario and among these there are the limitation of tensions through the promotion of dialogue aimed at peace and the strengthening of the fight against terrorists that undermine the stability of international balances.
The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region did not hesitate to thank the Italian Government on behalf of the Kurdistan Region for the deep relationship based on cooperation that has existed between the two countries for years. As affirmed by both personalities, the relations between the two States, are not limited only to the sphere of security and the fight against terrorism, but also to trade and the work done to encourage investments in the Kurdistan Region by an increasing number of Italian companies, so that Italy might become an integral part of the economic diversification process underway in the Kurdistan Region.
As subsequently affirmed by Prime Minister Mr. Masrour Barzani, the bilateral meeting was extremely productive and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Luigi Di Maio confirmed that Italy will continue proudly to maintain the commitment of collaboration aimed at ensuring stability, development and well-being for the Kurdistan Region.
