The High Representative of the Regional Government of Kurdistan in Italy and at the Holy See, Dr. Rezan Kader today have met the Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, on his official visit to Erbil. The cardinal have visited the plain of Nineveh and have celebrated with the patriarch of the Syro-Catholic church, Mar Igniatus Yousef III Yonan, the holy mass in the town of Qaraqosh.
"During the Christmas holidays, the visit of the Vatican Secretary of State - says Dr. Kader - is a tangible and concrete sign of the closeness and support of the Christian Church and of the Holy Father to the populations and all Christians who are still fighting against an unjust war. "I express my support - continues Dr. Kader - the responsibility and sacrifice that the Catholic Church makes every day in defense of the most needy people.
During his visit, Cardinal Parolin have met, among others, President Masoud Barzani, the President of the Council of Ministers Nechirvan Barzani, the chancellor of the Security Council of the Regional Government of Kurdistan (KRSC) as well as the next appointed Prime Minister, Masrour Barzani. Everyone have expressed gratitude to the cardinal for his visit and for instill hope in their population.
