The Kurdistan Regional Representative in Italy celebrated Nawroz the Kurdish New Year.

On Thursday, March 28, at the institutional headquarters of the Kurdistan Regional Representative, the high representative Dr. Rezan Kader celebrated Nawroz the Kurdish New Year. Nawroz, which literally means new day, is a traditional celebration that celebrates the arrival of the new year and it is celebrated in many Central Asian countries. The official celebration takes place on March 21st of each year, that also correspond with the arrival of spring.

As you know Nowroz represents an opportunity for families to be together so, this year Dr. Kader has chosen to celebrate this important anniversary at the institutional office of the Kurdish Regional Government, so that she has attributed greater symbolic value at this event.
The Kurdish New Year is a very important celebration for the Kurdish people and on this occasion the High Representative did not hesitate to reiterate, in her initial speech, the great sacrifice that her people make every day to defend their human rights in an arduous path towards independence. The evening was gladdened by the transmission of three separate thematic / informative videos on three screens set up specifically for the evening, which the guests themselves warmly appreciated.


Present at the event, representatives of the Holy See and of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches, the Chamber and Senate of the Republic, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defense the foreign diplomatic corps in Rome as the Ambassador and the Consul of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Ambassador of Nicaragua and Finland, and also the reppresentative of Taipei in Italy.

In addition were present representative of the Great Britain, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and also Catalogna, of Bosnia ed Erzegovina. The representatives of the Italian press, the Kurdish community in Rome, and many other dear friends.


After the opening of the evening by Dr. Kader who welcomed the guests expressing her warm and heartfelt thanks and addressing the representatives of the Government and Italian Institutions, she reiterated the sensitivity that Italy has always shown towards the Kurda cause. Following the greeting of Lino Banfi, present at the evening, who as Ambassador Unicef ​​and member of the Italian Unesco Commission wanted to cheer the guests with his authentic simplicity and telling real life anecdotes full of profound human values. The parterre of guests also had the honor of hosting prof. Alessandro Meluzzi, and also the new Ambassador and Consul of Iran in Italy.
