The Minister of Tourism and Municipality, Mr. Sasan Osman Awni, participates in the International Conference organized by the CNR in Rome

On Wednesday, January 29th 2020, the Kurdish delegation led by the Minister of Municipality and Tourism Mr. Sasan Osman Awni and accompanied by the High Representative of the Kurdistan Regional Government to Italy and to the Holy See, Mrs. Rezan Kader, also composed of the head of the department of the Ministry Mahlawi Jabar Wahab, the Director General of Antiquities Kaifi Mustafa Ali and the Director of Antiquities of Duhok Hasan Ahmed Quasim, together with the Italian Consul to Erbil Mrs. Serena Muroni, participated in the international conference 'Endangered Cultural Heritage' organized by the CNR in Rome.
The conference was moderated in its first phase by Professor Daniele Morandi Bonacossi and was opened by various greetings including those of Minister Sasan Osman Awni, who stated he and the Kurdistan Regional Government were proud of the results that have been achieved in the archaeological field through cooperation projects between the Kurdistan Region and Italy.
Furthermore, Mr. Sasan Osman Awni underlined the importance of protecting the cultural heritage guarded by its land and thanked all those who made possible the safeguarding and recovering of historical elements that would otherwise have been lost.
Before passing on the word to Mrs. Kader, Minister Sasan Osman Awni also spent a few words to remind everyone how solid is the relationship built jointly by Italy and the Kurdistan Regional Government over the years is.
After thanking everyone present, Mrs. Rezan Kader underlined the historical importance of the surprising findings of Assyrian reliefs, which, without such collaboration between Kurdistan and Italy, would not have been received.
The High Representative expressed immense gratitude especially as regards the recovery of monuments vandalized and / or destroyed during the Daesh war, stating that the greatness of international cooperation - continues the High Representative - lies in the tangibility of the goals achieved at in favor of all humanity and this project is an example of what could still be done.
