The Representations of the Kurdistan Regional Government are 14 and are located in Australia, Austria, European Union, France, Germany, Iran, Poland, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom and United States.
They play a key role as they are the key tool for raising awareness of Kurdistan and the history of Kurdish people in the world. In this regard, they hold political-diplomatic relations with the government of the host country, promote the growth of trade between their countries by providing information and support to anyone who wishes to collaborate in the economic progress of Kurdistan. In this regard, in order to facilitate the activities of foreign contractors on site, the KRG Representations abroad can perform the authentication of companies documents, which will then be forwarded to the competent authorities of the Kurdish government. Finally, the Representations promote the Kurdish culture both at institutional and civil society level through the organization of conferences, seminars and social – cultural events. As for the consular sector, the representations not only issue visas to those who want to visit the Kurdistan region for tourism or work, but they represent a strong reference point for the Kurdish community residing in the host country.
Italy is considered a longtime friend of the Kurdish people and is one of the major trading partners of the Kurdistan Region. The diplomatic and political relations are excellent and dating back over time, so much so that Italy is one of the favourite destinations of President Barzani
