President Barzani convenes KRG representatives abroad in Brussels to discuss about the referendum

The High Representative, Mrs. Rezan Kader went to Brussels, along with the other representatives of Kurdistan Regional Government abroad, to meet with President Masoud Barzani and the Head of the Foreign Relations Department, Min. Falah Mustafa to discuss the referendum on independence, which will take place on September 25, 2017.
This meeting is part of President Barzani’s diplomatic tour at the main European Chambers, aimed to prepare and inform international public opinion about the referendum on Iraqi Kurdistan independence and its possible effects on Middle Eastern scenarios.

The first stop was July 11, where President Barzani met with the Foreign Affairs Commission of the European Parliament and officials of the Belgian Government along with its delegation composed of representatives of Kurdish parties and ethnic-religious minorities. The President has claimed the right to self-determination of peoples, recalled the injustices suffered by his people, the various persecutions and the sacrifices made by the latter against the terrorists of ISIS. The President emphasized that Kurdish leadership will respect the right to self-determination of the populations of the Plains of Nineveh, a territory of historical rooting in Christian communities.

President Barzani's mission is crucial because it represents a decisive step for the future of the Kurdistan region.
