On Friday, February 1st, Mrs. Rezan Kader received the visit of the Chairman of the Committee on Petitions of the European Parliament, Hon. Erminia Mazzoni at the Representation Office of the Kurdistan Regional Government.

The Hon. Mazzoni thanked the High Representative to be invited at the home of the Kurds where she gave an interview which will be subsequently presented in Kurdistan on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the commemoration of the genocide of the Kurdish people. In particular, the Hon. Mazzoni presented his activities within the Commission and the attention paid to the issues on protection of human rights. For this reason, the Hon. Mazzoni has appealed to Italian and European institutions and civil society in order to support the petition for the recognition of the Kurdish genocide.

Following this declaration, Mrs. Kader and Hon. Mazzoni have entertained in an interesting conversation, during which the High Representative has told moved the history of pain and persecution experienced by the Kurdish people, but even the accomplishments and the progress that the Kurdistan region is recording.

The Hon. Mazzoni reiterated to Mrs. Kader its support, inviting her at the European Parliament to lead together the fight for the Kurds so that crimes of this magnitude are never more committed.
